PSN account required for Ghost Of Tsushima multiplayer on PC, but not for single-player story

Ghost of Tsushima, the hit 2020 PlayStation-exclusive samurai game, is coming to PC on May 16, and ahead of the game‘s launch there, developer Sucker Punch Productions has revealed that players won’t need a PlayStation Network account to play single player mode. story mode, as reported by Chronicle of video games. However, a PSN account will be required to play Ghost of Tsushima’s multiplayer Legends mode, or if you want to use the new PlayStation PC overlay to acquire trophies and more.

This follows last week’s announcement where PlayStation announced (and then backtracked) that Helldivers 2 players will soon have to link a PSN account to their Steam account, causing widespread anger in the game‘s community. It seems that Sucker Punch is looking to get a head start by revealing its PSN plans ahead of the game‘s launch in 10 days.

If you’re unfamiliar with Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, it’s a standalone multiplayer experience that lets you and three other players fight enemies in special missions, defeat waves of enemies and complete raids. A PSN account will be required to play Legends, but if you want to play the game‘s story (and the Iki Island expansion), you won’t need one.

Ghost of Tsushima was released on PlayStation 4 on July 17, 2020, before launching on PlayStation 5 with a Director’s Cut on August 20, 2021. This is the version of the game that will be released on PC in 10 days on May 16, 2024 .
